Need forms that aren’t stuck on Netlify?
On Netlify’s newer credit plans, Forms are free and unlimited. So this isn’t really about price. It’s about lock-in, spam, and email.
Netlify Forms only work on Netlify. Basin works wherever your site lives—and Growth/Pro add branding and stronger spam tools when “just collect it” isn’t enough.
Not tied to one host
Move the site later if you want. Your forms backend shouldn’t force that decision.
Spam is our problem too
Pro filters exist because public forms get hammered by bots.
Send data where you need it
Webhooks, Slack, Sheets, and more—without making Netlify the center of everything.
A hosting feature vs a forms product
Stay on Netlify Forms if you’re all-in on Netlify and basic spam protection is fine. Switch to Basin if you might leave Netlify someday, want notification emails that look like your brand, or need spam tools beyond the usual host defaults. Older Netlify accounts may still have different Forms billing—check which plan you’re on.
Basin vs. Netlify Forms | Basin | Netlify Forms |
|---|---|---|
Pricing | Its own Free–Agency plans | Part of Netlify hosting · Forms free on credit plans |
Locked to a host? | Nope | Yes—Netlify sites only |
Spam | Basic → stronger filters on Pro | Akismet + honeypot / CAPTCHA options |
Email alerts | Branded / custom on Growth–Pro | Email, Slack, webhooks · Netlify-style defaults |
File uploads | Storage grows with your plan | Supported · 8MB request limit |
Best fit | Forms are a real part of the product | Forms are a Netlify checkbox |
Choose Basin if…
Forms need to outlive a Netlify-only setup, or you want branding/spam/support that a host feature won’t prioritize.
Stick with Netlify Forms if…
You’re happy on Netlify credit plans, only need basic collection, and you’re fine staying put.
Leaving Netlify—or just outgrowing Forms?
Keep the site where it is (or move it). Point forms at Basin and treat submissions like their own product.
